Web Design by Sam Gray
I am a strong advocate of simplicity especially when it comes to web site design. Accomplishing that goal requires a lot of planning before any pre-design is done or code is written. Here are a few suggestions to make web site design more efficient and keep the design costs down:
- Decide on the content to be presented
This is probably the most overlooked and underestimated part of web site design. It is the client's responsibility to write the content. The better written and more organized it is, the better and more economical the site will be. The design as you go and add content later approach is a recipe for frustration and cost overruns.
- Be clear on what the goals are for the web site
- Deliver content in an organized and timely manner
Text should be finalized, proofread and ready for publication. Graphics should be named carefully and sent in an orderly way. Delivering content in a digital format will speed up the process, avoid typos and keep the costs down.

Allenberry.com
was done as a redesign of their existing site. The concept
and mood of the site reflect the unique property
while using their existing logo and color scheme.
The site uses the same drop down menu
system throughout for ease of navigation. Text menus
are also used for additional clarity. The sidebar allows
for placement of teaser items.
The photographs used
on the site provide the visitor with
an interactive tour of the rooms and property. |

POSGnet.com
is the site for an office furniture and commercial
interior design company. The site was designed to
help expand their commercial customer base.
The site uses a liquid design with the center column
expanding to fill the page. Side columns are used for
text menu navigation and teaser items.
The design was kept very clean and simple
to allow for expansion in the future. The customer response to this site has been very positive, and
new content is being added on a regular basis. |
